Anyway, Laura and I decided to push the envelope with Crafty with the dress code...and this is what came out..

Anyway, today we had a huge county wide pep rally for the beginning of the school year. Not gonna lie- I have spent all summer dreading this event...and it was the same old, same old, until we were told who our guest speaker was....
RON CLARK!!!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who don't know anything about him, he is probably the most inspiring teacher on the planet. He has a book, The Essential 55, and there was even a movie made about his life, called "The Ron Clark Story" starring Matthew Perry. I wish I could be like Ron Clark, as he is the best teacher that probably lived. I know that I will never be as brave as him, to teach in places he's taught, but I know that I can make a difference here in Conyers at my school. While I'm nervous about a new grade, I have never been so excited to start another school year. Seriously amazing. Ron Clark made me forget about laying by the pool...please check out his site...
I would like to add, based on Chassidy's post on this, that "ma'am and sir" is a total Southern respect thing. I will make my students say it, simply because their parents want them to. However, I know students who say "ma'am and sir" and have no respect. Being from the midwest, I've had students who never said that and still had respect. Besides, ma'am makes me feel OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!!!!!!!! :-) But I love ya'll southerners (you guys) anyway!!! :-)

I'm soooooooooooo jealous! I used quite a few of the "Essential 55" my 1st year teaching 5th grade. You'll be GREAT Krysti!! They're really just 2nd graders in bigger bodies... that's all. Maybe a little more drama! ;-)
I love your "sharky" picture! That is the outfit you'll be sporting fot Open House on Friday, right? :)
